CHILD DEVELOPMENT (TURKISH)


Profile of the Program

The Child Development programme was established to meet the educational and counselling needs of children with normal development, special needs, patients, children in need of protection and children at risk in our country by considering the highest benefit of children. The aim of this programme is to train well-equipped and qualified professionals who can prepare educational programmes to support the development of children with normal development, special needs and children in need of protection between the ages of 0-18; provide consultancy and publication services to individuals, institutions and organisations according to their needs; develop projects using modern approaches related to children, families, educators and society, and provide services to children, families and society in the field of child development and education.

Qualification Awarded

The students who successfully complete the program are awarded the degree of Bachelor of ÇOCUK GELİŞİMCİ

Level of Qualification

This is a Associate (Short Cycle) program.

Specific Admission Requirements

Students are accepted with YKS (Higher Education Institutions Examination) made by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Candidates who are high school graduates; According to the score they will get from the Basic Proficiency Test of the Higher Education Institutions Examination conducted by ÖSYM, they can be a student in the Programme if they make their preferences in accordance with the Preference Guide published by ÖSYM, provide the base score of the Programme to be determined for that year, are eligible to enroll in the Programme according to the ÖSYM Result Explanation System data and register between the specified dates.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

In order to acquire Two year Degree in the field of Child Development, students are supposed to complete all required must and elective courses(totally 120 AKTS equivalent) in the programme successfully and their C.G.P.A is supposed to be at least 2.0 out of 4.00

Recognition of Prior Learning

The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Students who graduate from the Child Development Programme can work as a group supervisor or assistant teacher in nurseries and day care homes affiliated to the Ministry of Family and Social Services; as an assistant instructor in kindergartens and nursery schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education; as an assistant instructor in the playrooms in the children's wards of hospitals; and as an assistant instructor in Special Education and Rehabilitation centres. In addition, they can also work as child development professionals and designers in areas such as children's publications and toy sector.

Access to Further Studies

The graduated students who completed their Two-year degree successfully are able to reach undergraduate program of universities “Preschool Teaching and Child Development and Education Teaching” department with vertical transfer on the condition that if they have adequate score from Vertical Transfer Examination.

5 Apply and practice drama,play and music activities.
6 To follow nutrition habbits of children
7 Plan and practice activities for children with special needs.
8 To apply science and technology education for children.
9 Plan and apply free time activities.
10 Using, preparing and maintaining equipments, materials and documents around work environment.
11 Have knowledge and skills about parent education
12 Have knowledge and skills about child health and diseases.
