MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNIQUES (TURKISH)


Profile of the Program

The aim of the medical laboratory techniques program is to educate laboratory technicians able to make medical analyses, which are assumed necessary by a physician, related to the patient’s situation in diagnosis and treatment laboratories. The graduates of this program have the ability to make hematologic, microbiologic and biochemical analyses by using laboratory equipments. The graduates are able to work in various health agencies, specific clinics and analysis laboratories, health institutes, food industry, research and development foundations in medical area.

Qualification Awarded

The students who successfully complete the program are awarded the degree of Bachelor of Önlisans

Level of Qualification

This is a Associate (Short Cycle) program.

Specific Admission Requirements

Students are accepted through the YKS (Higher Education Institutions Exam) administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Upon successful completion along with the qualifications of the program, (the 5th level) Associate degree is given in the field of Medical Laboratuary Techniques.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students who are accepted to register in the Medical Laboratory Techniques Program are students who have completed vocational health secondary education and/or an equivalent education abroad and/or have received sufficent score in the national student placement exam.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Graduates of this program can work in Ministry of Health, Health Directorates, hospitals, laboratories, medical centers, research laboratories.

Access to Further Studies

-Biology -Nursing -Nursing and Health Care departments of the transition can be made with the DGS.

Program Outcomes

1 To be able to dominate medical laboratory medical terms and terminology specific
2 To have knowledge medical laboratory tests in every area of the analysis of the relevant tests
3 To have knowledge about the working principle of human body metabolism and to be knowledge able about and in all areas of medical laboratory tests and results with the knowledge necessary to establish the relationship between metabolism and gain intellectual structure
4 To able to make preparations processes before analysis and after to apply disinfection and sterilization techniques
5 To extract the errors that occur during application of the test and to resolve problems that occur
6 To have professional authority and responsibility
7 To be able to do their work under the rules of professional ethics and proper to be able to properly display .
8 To have the consciousness of responsibility who is respectful to history and social values, communicating effectively with patient and health staff to conduct in terms of health services and who is able to make teanwork when needed
9 To able to be an individual who is interested in new information and changes life-long and the development of coordinating skill to the improvements in country and in the world.
