Course Enrollment Procedures

Semester/Yearly Re-registration and Course Registration Procedures

  1. Re-registration Obligation
Students must renew their registration at the beginning of each semester/year within the dates specified in the academic calendar, until the maximum period of study defined in Article 15 of the Regulation is reached. Re-registration is entirely the responsibility of the student. The acceptance of valid excuses for late re-registration due to force majeure is decided by the relevant administrative boards.

  2. Consequences of Not Re-registering
Students who do not re-register and do not freeze their registration, even if they have paid tuition fees, cannot benefit from student rights such as military deferment or obtaining a student ID. Access to the Student Information System is temporarily blocked for such students.

  3. Course Registration and Academic Advising
Students must finalize and approve their course selections by the end of the add/drop period, in accordance with Articles 18, 30, 31, and 33 of the Regulation. Students may receive support from their academic advisors during this process.

  4. Freezing Registration
Students who have officially registered at the University may apply for freezing their registration due to valid reasons, within the periods specified in Article 16 of the Regulation. Such requests are evaluated by the administrative board of the relevant academic unit.

  5. Students Who Fail to Re-register
Students who do not re-register may freeze their registration by paying 25% of the semester tuition fee, as stated in the second paragraph of Article 16. In cases of military service, illness, or natural disasters, no fee is charged. The period for which registration is frozen is not counted towards the maximum study period. However, periods of non-registration without freezing are included in the maximum study period. Except for cases under paragraph 4(a) of Article 16, students who have not re-registered must pay 25% of the tuition fee for those semesters/years before enrolling in new courses.

  6. Financial Obligations
No student transactions related to student rights are processed until the student fulfills their financial obligations.

  7. Late Registration with Valid Reason
Students with valid excuses approved by the relevant board may re-register until the end of the fourth week of the academic semester/year. No re-registration is allowed after this date under any circumstances.

  8. Student Responsibility for Course Assignments
Students (fully funded, partially funded, or self-paying) with active systems are responsible for the courses assigned via the Student Information System or self-selection, regardless of their attendance. Partially funded and self-paying students must fulfill their financial obligations for the relevant period.

  9. Termination of Registration
Students who fail to re-register for four consecutive academic years (eight semesters) without a valid reason may have their enrollment terminated upon the decision of the relevant academic board and the approval of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).
