Profile of the Program

Bahçeşehir University Law Faculty has been established in 2001. The aim of the legal education at the Law Faculty is to provide the graduates with the information on legal methodology and methods of interpretetation besides using one foreign language as lanuguage of studying. By this way, it is aimed to make the graduates able to deal with and solve both internal and international legal problems applying the current norms and jurisprudence and with the professional responsibility awareness.

Qualification Awarded

The students who successfully complete the program are awarded the degree of Bachelor of Law

Level of Qualification

This is a Bachelor’s Degree (First Cycle) program.

Specific Admission Requirements

Student admission for this undergraduate program is made through university entrance examinations (YGS-LYS) prepared in the framework of the regulations set by Higher Education Council of Turkey (YÖK). International students are accepted to this undergraduate program according to the score of one of the international exams they take such as SAT,ACT etc. or according to their high school diploma score. Exchange student admission is made according to the requirements determined by bilateral agreements signed by BAU and the partner university. Visiting students can enroll for the courses offered in this program upon the confirmation of the related academic unit. Additionally, they need to prove their English language level since the medium of instruction atBAU is English.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The students graduating from this programme awarded Bachelor's of Law degree.

Recognition of Prior Learning

At Bahcesehir University , full-time students can be exempted from some courses within the framework of the related by laws. If the content of the course previously taken in another institution is equivalent to the course offered at BAU, then the student can be exempted from this course with the approval of the related faculty/graduate school after the evaluation of the course content.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

The graduates of the law faculty, besides exercising the regular legal jobs such as lawyer, judge, prosecutor, notary; can also work on other fields like international relations. They can work as an official on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other state institutions and also work as executives in private firms.

Access to Further Studies

The students graduating from this program may apply to second cycle (Master's degree) programmes.

Program Outcomes

1 List the relations between concepts and institutions related to various legal disciplines and this concepts and institutions.
2 Have the knowledge of legal methodology and methods of comment.
3 Comment the modern legal gains with the historical knowledge.
4 Have the knowledge of philosophical currents of thought which are the bases of legal rules.
5 Have the knowledge of legal regulations, judicial decisions and the scientific evaluations related to them.
6 Resolve the juridical disagreements in light of legal acts, juridical decisions and doctrine.
7 Use at least one foreign language as scientific language.
8 Have the knowledge of the political and juridical foundation of the state.
9 Have the knowledge of the historical development of the rights of individuals and societies and of the basic documents which are accepted throughout this development.
10 Have the ability to resolve the disagreements which can violate the social order in national or international level.
11 Have the ability to prevent the juridical disagreements between individuals.
12 Have the knowledge of international and comparative law systems.
13 Have the knowledge of the construction and the conduct of the national and international commercial relations.
14 Use Turkish in an efficient way both verbal and written.
15 Have the professional and ethical responsibility.
16 Have the knowledge on the European Union’s legislation and institutions.
17 Have the knowledge on juridical regulations and applications related to economical and financial mechanisms.
18 Have the knowledge of the operation of the national and the international judicial bodies.
