Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: The course is designed to introduce students to basic principles of video production. Going through phases of production such as pre-production, production and post-production students will have hands-on experience in the digital video production techniques, learn about cameras, basic camera movements, lighting, audio recording and editing. Discussions of theories and screenings of examples of production methods will help the students to develop a consciousness and an appreciation for video as a cinematic medium. The fundamental aesthetic and conceptual issues of video and filmmaking will be raised through discussions, exercises, assignments, projects and presentations.
Course Content: Students learn to structure an audio / visual project and write a synopsis. Students are introduced to the history of cinema, optical illusions, etc., pre-production processes such as writing the synopsis for a short film project. Students will be introduced to video production, directing styles and shooting with video. Camera, white balance, shutter speeds, exposure and adjustments. Students learn how to write a treatment and about the editing techniques and their history, support materials , camera movements, camera angles, types of cameras by doing exercise in class or in the studio. Students learn how to structure a linear or non-linear, a narrative or non-narrative structure to write a short script and about basic image formation, resolution and aspect ratio and picture quality
Students learn about composition to frame, how to create storyboards or photoboards and they are introduced to lighting equipment and the key concepts of light and colour. Students shoot their projects and learn about audio recording equipment and the functions of sound in cinema & video. Students write the script for final project
The TV studio and TV Live Broadcast Systems are introduced as well as linear and non-linear editing, off-line and on-line editing. Technical aspects of video making such as synchronization, titling, subtitling, special / visual effects, mixing etc. are covered in class as well.

14) Evaluation of the assignments and the final projects. Feedback: The projects, assignments and all the class/homework are given feedback on in detail. Preparation of the projects and uploading them. Finalization, correction and evaluation of the final assignments and final projects.
