Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: This course is based on the acting techniques of Eric Morris. The primary aims of this course are to be able to direct actors in an efficient way, to understand the fine points of acting as an art. In addition, to have a creative approach in acting part of a TV serie or film, to understand the psychology of an actor and the relationship between the camera and the actor.
Course Content: In this course, directing of actors in television and cinema and the relationship between the actor and the camera will be discussed.

Week Subject Related Preparation
1) Is acting an art? What is acting? What an actor needs? Practice
2) Acting with Eric Morris Technique. (Practice)
3) Eric Morris technique and its applications (Practice)
4) What is the part of a director in creating the best of “acting” in a film? The relationship between the camera and the actor. (Practice)
5) What is the part of a director in acting? (Practice)
6) Understanding the psychology of an actor. Creating a character in an actor. (Practice)
7) Creating a well balanced relationship with and between the actors in pre-production, shooting and post-production period.
8) Does a director let spontaneity in acting or is open to do some changes in the script due to the needs of an actor? (Practice)
9) Watching the best samples of acting performances in series and films. Discussions about the performances.
10) Directing actors in scenes and shooting the performances. (All students will shoot one or more scenes all along the course. This shootings and directing skills will be evaluated as the examination)
