According to Article 22 of Bahçeşehir University’s Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations:Except for courses entirely based on projects or practical applications, each course must include at least one midterm and one end-of-term (semester/year-end) assessment activity. These activities can be in the form of exams or, depending on the nature of the course and the intended learning outcomes, may include projects, case studies, in-class applications, laboratory work, assignments, and similar activities. The weights of these activities used in calculating the student’s final grade are determined by the instructor at the beginning of the term and must be announced through the course syllabus in the Student Information System. The contribution of the end-of-term assessment must be at least forty percent (40%). Midterm and final exams may be written, multiple-choice, or a combination of both. Written exams may also be conducted electronically (for remote, hybrid, or face-to-face courses). However, for courses with practical or unique structures, exams may be conducted orally or by evaluating students’ term-long performance. The method of examination for such courses must be determined upon the recommendation of the department/program chair and approved by the academic unit’s board, and must be reported to the Rectorate within seven weeks of the beginning of the semester/year. The results of all midterm exams and assessment activities must be announced to students within ten days of their completion. Instructors are responsible for informing students of their term performance and attendance grades by the last week of the academic term at the latest. The student’s final grade for a course is determined using the relative (curve) grading method, taking into account all midterm and in-term activities as specified in the course syllabus. |
