Profile of the Program

Graduate program in architecture is designed to develop and deeepen knowledge of the students in architecture to higher levels of professional competence based on Bachelor level qualifications; to give students an understanding in scholarly research; to develop ability to conduct and communicate studies individually and ability to enhance lifelong intellectual growth. These goals are achieved through a coherent program of lectures, supervised scholarly researches and a thesis that is carefully planned by each individual student in consultation with an advisor.

The students who successfully complete the program are awarded the degree of Bachelor of Architecture

Specific Admission Requirements

In order to apply for a master's program, candidates must have a bachelor's degree and meet other basic program-specific requirements to be determined by the Institute Board. In addition, students applying to thesis programs must have an ALES score of no less than 55 points, as determined by the Institute Board in the score type they are applying for. The foreign language proficiency levels of candidates applying to master's programs conducted in a foreign language are determined according to the results of central foreign language exams accepted by YÖK, international foreign language exams accepted as equivalent by YÖK or ÖSYM, or the University English Proficiency Exam.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Students joining this program must have been completed 21 credits,a seminar and a thesis presented in a jury and approved by a jury.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students who will continue their education at Bahçeşehir University may be exempted from the courses they took at their previous educational institution within the framework of certain regulations. If the content of the course taken is compatible with the content of the course given at BAU and is approved by the institute directorate, the student may be exempted from this course.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Graduates can find job opportunities in construction industry both as designer and practicing architect; in Ministeries and Municipalities for designing and controlling; in Universities as academics; in Private sector related to construction as architects; in Press and also in organisations related to architecture such as exhibitions. Also they can establish their own private offices.

Access to Further Studies

Students who graduate from this program can apply to study in doctoral programs.

Program Outcomes

1 Develops the conceptual/theoretical and practical knowledge gained in undergraduate level to higher proficiency level.
2 Be able to conduct researches at proficiency level in Architecture and related disciplines individually and participate or take responsibility in groups.
3 Demostrate an ability to develop new approaches and produce knowledge at proficiency level researches both in architecture and related disciplines.
4 Apply critical thinking methods , identify, formulate, and effectively communicate the critical issues involved in the solution of design problems.
5 Evaluate the phenomena in Architectural History and analyse historical, social, political backgrounds of the contemporary developments .
6 Be able to conduct qualitatif and quantitatif researches on the discipline of Architecture.
7 Be able to communicate the results of his researches, design proposals , conceptual and practical thoughts in the field of architecture using written, oral, visual media
8 Develops the lifelong learning abilities.
9 Engage social, legal, ethical and aesthetical responsibility in the discipline of architecture.
