Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: The overall aim of the course is for the students to attain basic knowledge of the EU legal system. Firstly, the students will be introduced to the historical background of the EU and its institutional structure as well as a cursory overview of the common market. The character of sources of Union law and the legislative process are thereafter will be elaborated. Furthermore, the relationship between the legal system of the EU and those of the Member States will be the main focus of the course.
Course Content: The Development of European Integration; The Role of the Commission; The Role of the Council; The Role of the European Parliament; The EU Legislation; Court of Justice; Actions Against Member States; Judicial Review of EU Acts. Preliminary Rulings; Direct Effect of Community Law; Supremacy of EU Law; “Cassis de Dijon” and the Development of Free Movement Rules.

3) Ability to design a complex system, process, structural and/or structural members to meet specific requirements under realistic constraints and conditions; ability to apply modern design methods for this purpose.
