Course Objectives: |
This course aims to provide students a general introduction to the basic concepts in microbiology and the terminology used, the types of diagnostic methods including microscopy, culture and serology, the spectrum of pathogenic bacteria, viruses and fungi, important medical and dental infections in different tissues, the interaction of host response and pathogen in immunology, and antibiotics in the treatment of infections. Also aims to teach basic sterilization and disinfection methods for preventive purposes in clinical applications. |
