Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: This course is a combined theatre history that covers four semesters. It is designed to acquaint the student with the development of European drama, theater, and production procedures from the period of Classical Greece to the present.
Course Content: This course is a survey of western theatre history and dramatic literature from the rise of realism to the present. When discussing a play (or style or era), we are concerned with its historical context AND with the theatrical conventions dominant at the time. Play readings, readings from the text, and discussion acquaint the student with the history and techniques of the theatrical arts, as well as an understanding for how the elements of theatre work in our daily lives.
