Course Objectives: | This course aims to improve students’ reading, writing, listening and speaking skills and prepare them for the undergraduate academic program conducted in English. Specifically, the course has three main objectives: to develop students’ abilities to read a variety of authentic English texts, to expand and strengthen their vocabulary, and to introduce students to Business English. |
Course Content: | Week 1 - Introduction to the Course Week 2 - The working day / Reading: Changing Places. Talking about job titles and describing nouns, company departments Week 3 - Present Simple and Continuous Tense Week 4 - Corporate Culture / Listening: Conversation between two employees. Asking questions about companies. Past Simple and Continuous Week 5 - The Internet / Designing a Website Reading. Writing short formal and informal emails. Email website vocabulary Week 6 - Describing Equipment / Problems with equipments reading. Listening to descriptions of gadgats. Office equipment vocabulary. WRITING TASK 1 Week 7 - MIDTERM Week 8 - Processes and Procedures / Waratah Australian clothing company Reading. Role play an interview. Present Passive Week 9 - Distribution and Delivery / Selling your product online article. Leaving a phone message. Role play: making a telephone call to a supplier. Telephone language. Modal verbs of obligation Week 10 - Advertising and Marketing / Singapore Airlines Reading. Vocabulary about advertising and marketing Week 11 - Transport / Transport arragements.
