MARITIME TRANSPORTATION AND MANAGEMENT (TURKISH)


Profile of the Program

The aim of "Maritime Transportation and Management Program" fit for students to a deck wathkeeping officer.

Qualification Awarded

The students who successfully complete the program are awarded the degree of Bachelor of Deck Watchkeeping Officers

Level of Qualification

This is a Associate (Short Cycle) program.

Specific Admission Requirements

They are regulated by “Measurment, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM)” according to the principles determined by the Higher Education Council (YÖK).(Techical Vocational High School students are accepted from the related fields)

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

In order to get pre-Bsc degree at Maritime Transportation and Management Program, the total of compulsory and elective hours of the lessons must be the equivalent of 120 ECTS and fully succeeded. The cumulative grade point average must be at least 2.0 out 4.00.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students may be exempted from some courses based on certain regulations. If any courses taken at another institution are equivalent to the normally required course content and are approved by the department, students may be exempted from these courses.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

When students graduate form the program, they complete 12 months training course. Then take an exam at GASM. If they pass the exam, they can work at ships as a deck watchkeeping officer

Access to Further Studies

Graduate students having successully completed their pre-Bsc degree can pass vertially to a Bsc degree program in Faculties.

Program Outcomes

1 Konowledge of mathematics and science in the areas of used at maritime sector;
2 determined complicated problems, defining, formulation and solve; for this aim chosing and apply proper analysis and modeling methods
3 design complicated system, process, equipment or product under realist restrictions and provisions and meet a requirement. (These realist restrictions and provisions are economy, environmental problems, sustainability, productivity, ethics, health, security, social and politic problems and others
4 effectively using ability of information technologies
5 effective teamwork ability at intradisciplinary and interdisciplinary; self study ability
6 effective verbal communication and written communication in Turkish; at least one foreign language learning
7 Be conscious at necessity life long learning; reach the information, follow the developments at science and technology and perpetually improve oneself
8 Be conscious of professional ethics and liability
9 konwledge of applicaitons at business world like project management and risk management;awareness at entrepreneurship, innovativeness and sustainable development
10 awareness at maritime sector applications effects on health, evironment, security and information about problems of period and legal results at solutions
11 Be able to understand and implement of Regulations of International Maritime Organization (IMO) and STCW 78
12 Vessel management at merchant ships and information and ability for render service to handling
