Course Objectives: | To increase students' interest in literature by showing that literary works, in addition to the pleasure of reading, will provide them with information about social reality and the human condition.The aim of this course is to question the relation between literature and society, to demonstrate the way society is reflected in literary works made up of different types of literature, to determine the aspects these correspond with the real life and to display the way literature leads and changes the society. The students who have succeeded in this course; 1. You will learn about the modern world and modern literature. 2. You will gain the knowledge that it is possible to be informed about the world you live in and the society you live in through literature. 3. Thanks to the "human condition" contained in literary works, you will gain the ability to look critically at yourself and your social relations. 4. You will understand the importance of gaining knowledge outside your field of expertise and reading outside the curriculum. |
Studying texts chosen from Turkish and World literature with their relation to the connection between literature and society and displaying real life correspondences of social reflections in these works and displaying the role of literature in social transformation, form the basis of this course. Teaching methods and techniques used in the course are: lecture, reading, individual work, sample review, discussion, and observation. |
