Course Objectives: This course aims to introduce students with the concepts such as the Internet, video and audio streaming, web 2.0, 3G or 4G computer networks, media art, e-learning, mobile media, social media sharing, digital marketing, cloud computing, etc. As a new generation of learners and facilitators, all should have a good understanding of cyberspaces and good basic skills in digital media development and experience of the necessary technologies and interactive media on a variety of platforms such as computers, the Internet, social platforms, and mobile devices.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
- define new media and media convergence, and analyze how they have changed society, politics, entertainment, and marketing.
- explain the history of the Internet, including influential innovators and the role of the government and countercultural movements.
- demonstrate an understanding of ethical issues and legislation surrounding Internet use and access.
- analyze the use of new media as a tool for seeking and sharing information.
- analyze and explain the incorporation of new media into professional practice in multiple sectors.

Course Content

This course provides students with the understanding and direction needed to navigate the ever- changing “new media” landscape. The technical issues of the Internet and new media platforms will be covered regarding critical analysis of the social, cultural, political, economic, entertainment, and ideological issues related to “new media.”
