Course Objectives: | The aim of this course is to ensure the correct and appropriate use of concepts in the historical process of art. Mesopotamian (Sumerian-Assyrian-Babylonian-Akkadian), Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Early Christian, Byzantine and European art forms the general line of the course, starting with prehistoric times and developing in different chronological times and geographies. The stylistic characteristics of different cultures, their interaction styles, their formations and functions in the geographical regions they are located in will be discussed. Architecture, plastic arts, painting and sculpture, which are discussed under the determined subject headings, will be explained with examples and presented with the support of visual materials and video demonstrations. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; When you successfully complete this course you will be able to do the following. •to develop a perspective on the history of art and the production of an artwork •to develop a visual sensitivity to the universal and intercultural dimensions of art •to illustrate the art trends, the artists and their works •to define and use the art terms and the aesthetic concepts •to compare the contemporary topics, the transitions and the trends in arts •to present ideas about arts visually, orally and in a written form •to comment on a work of art through its composition, topic and context |
What is Art, Who is the Artists? & Ancient Art and Archeology, Asian Arts “The Origin of Buddha Image” (Indian, Japan, China), Arts of the Middle Ages, Renaissance Art to Pre-Modern Styles.To grow up as individuals who are sensitive to people, society, past cultures, gain competence and ethical responsibility in their profession, adopt development as a principle, use information and communication technologies effectively, and think creatively and critically. Teaching methods and techniques used in the course are: lecture, individual work, reading, observation, field trips and use of digital resources. |
