Exam Regulations & Assessment & Grading

Within the scope of Article 22 of Bahçeşehir University Associate and Undergraduate Degree Education and Examination Regulations:

"Among the assessment activities of each course, there shall be at least one midterm/in-semester and one final/end-of-semester assessment activity. These activities may consist of examinations, or—depending on the nature of the course and the intended learning outcomes—projects, case studies, in-class practices, laboratory work, assignments, and similar activities may also be utilized.

The weightings of the assessment activities to be used in calculating the student's final grade shall be determined by the course instructor at the beginning of the semester, provided that the contribution of the final/end-of-semester assessment is at least forty percent (40%), and shall be announced through the course syllabus made available in the student information system.

Midterm and final examinations shall be administered in written, multiple-choice, or combined formats. Written examinations (for courses delivered online, in hybrid mode, or face-to-face) may be conducted in electronic environments. However, for courses with practical or highly specific structures, examinations may be conducted orally or through the evaluation of students’ semester/year-long work.

The method of examination for such courses shall be determined based on the recommendation of the relevant department or program head and the decision of the board of the respective academic unit, and shall be reported to the Rectorate within no later than seven weeks following the beginning of the semester/year.

The results of all exams and other assessment activities conducted during the semester/year shall be announced to students within ten days following the date of the activity.

Instructors are obliged to inform students of their midterm/in-semester grades and attendance evaluation results no later than the final week of the academic term.

The end-of-semester/year final grade for a course is determined by applying the relative grading method, taking into account all in-semester/year assessment activities, as specified in the course syllabus."
