Course Objectives: To inform students about basic physiologic concepts.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1- Defines the basic functions of the cell and the concept of homeostatis.
2- Describes the principles of substance transport through the cell membrane.
3- Separates the structure and functions of different muscle types.
4- Describes how the gases in the inhaled air are carried to the tissues.

Course Content

The basic functions of the cell; substance transport principles through the cell membrane, contraction mechanisms of muscle cells; function of the heart and blood circulation; transport of respiratory gases to tissues; digestive system organs and functions, the process of absorption of nutrients into the blood, central control of food and water intake; provides basic information on the removal of digestive wastes from the body.
