Course Objectives: The aim of the course is to introduce optical materials and devices and to teach them how to use them in the profession.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To be able to define glasses and lenses according to their characteristics.
2) Knows the raw materials and structure of glasses glass.
3) Recognize glasses frame types.
4) To be able to adjust the glasses frames.
5) To be able to repair glasses frames.
6) To be able to make full frame assembly.

Course Content

Raw materials used in the production of spectacle frames and their properties. Adjust the eyeglass frames to the equilibrium position on the vertical and horizontal axis and adjust to the human face. Measurement of spectacle frames. Definition and Formulation of Diopters, Measurement of Glasses in Manual Fokometer, Refraction Defects, Measurement Eyeglass Lenses - Recognition by Eye and Hand - Recognition by Neutralization - Measuring dioptric powers of lenses by focimeter, focus point and focus distances, general classification of lenses. Recognition of mineral and organic lenses. Types of lenses, thermal, and their physical and chemical properties of lenses.

8) Drawing, cutting and shaving of eyeglass lenses by hand
9) Lens and Their Types
10) Frame Measurements, Frame Selection and Adjustment for Face Properly
11) Determination of Values Required for Assembly by Measurement Techniques
12) Determination of Values Required for Assembly by Measurement Techniques
13) Lens Types (Bifocal and Trifocal Lenses)
14) Lens Types (Varilux and Multifocal Lenses)
