Course Objectives: The objective of this course will be to provide students basic premises of psychoanalytic approach. In a historical perspective important representatives of various schools of Psychoanalytic thought will be introduced. At the end of the course some core concepts related to interviewing; evaluation, case formulation; and treatment planning in psychoanalytic psychotherapy will be covered to connect the students for the material of the second semester.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
Learns the contribution of psychoanalytic theory to Clinical Psychology. Defines basic concepts of Psychoanalytic theory. Compares classical drive theory and Ego Psychology, Object Relations theories. Knows contemporary Psychoanalytic psychotherapy models. Compares and knows the differences between classical psychoanalysis and psychodynamic psychotherapy.
