Course Objectives: The main objective of the course is giving information about last developments in urban railway systems, giving the ability of selecting the most suitable solution (most advanced, most adaptable, most beneficial) and its rapidly-effective implementation, understanding operational, line, vehicle, energy, environmental characteristics of urban railway systems.

The students who have succeeded in this course;
Course outcomes are:

-Having the experience of last improvements in urban railway systems (tramway, light railway systems, subway)
-Having detailed information about general characteristics of urban railway systems, tramway-light metro-metro systems, operation-vehicle-line-energy feeding characteristics of these systems.

Course Content

General view to mass transport systems, general characteristics of urban railway sytems, tramway, light metro and metro systems. Operation, vehicle, line and energy feeding characteristics of these systems. Construction and meintenance methods, design-meintenance criterias, railway system characteristics in the world and Turkey.
