Course Objectives: The purpose of this course is to teach the solid waste management in an integrated manner. Solid waste definition, resources, recycling, reuse, reduction of waste, collection, accumulation and processing will be examined in the scope of this course.

III. Distinguishes physical, chemical and biological properties of domestic solid waste
IV. Associates sources, types and composition of the hazardous wastes that is existing in solid waste
V. Defines Solid Waste Management term that can be applied to the activities related with solid waste management
VI. Interpret waste processing, separation and processing at source
VII. Categorizes waster transfer and transport
VIII. Evaluates waste disposal strategies, generates appropriate collection and disposal system by considering legislations
IX. Investigates energy recovery systems from solid waste
X. Investigates objectives and scope of Solid Waste Management Regulation

Course Content

Solid waste sources and contents, recycling, reuse, waste reducing. Integrated waste management. Collecting, saving and treating of wastes. Medical waste management, hazardous waste management, treatment and remove methods, recovery and reuse of waste waters. Urban, industrial and agricultural reuse, reuse system financement.
