Course Objectives: | This course is designed to provide students with an introduction to general theoretical perspectives and related theories used by researchers in the field of communication and public relations. Through readings, student-facilitated discussions, presentations, exercises, and instructor lectures, students will gain a firm understanding of how theory helps us to understand communication phenomenon in public relations. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; 1. Be able to interpret and criticize scientific contents 2. Be able to discuss the main components of a variety of communication theories. 3. Be able to apply theoretical principles to “real world” situations, interactions, and messages. 4. Learn to apply course material (to improve thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and to further research) 5. Critically analyze and interpret the theories in public relations field of study. |
In this course students will analyze the theories, schools and approaches in the field of communication and specifically public relations, from past to present. Accordingly, they will be able to think and comment fully on the present communication processes while mass communication being in the first place. |
