Course Objectives: Course aims to give an introduction to Semiconductor electronic components, (diode, BJT, FET MOSFET), · DC biasing of electronic components and aims also to analyse and design logic circuits by using different techniques.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1. Describes the PN junction.
2. Describes diode characteristics and catalog information.
3. Establishes single phase filtered and regulated rectifiers.
4. Establishes a three-phase rectifiers.
5. Be able to use transistors as a switching element.
6. Set up transistor amplifier circuits.
7. Be able to use MOSFET transistors as a switching element.
8. Set up operational amplifier circuits.
9. Describes the number systems.
10. Describes the logical gate circuits.
11. Set up circuits of logic functions.
12. Able to do logic circuit simplification techniques.
13. Solves problems of logic and implements logic circuits.
14. Be able to design decoder and encoder circuits.
15. Describes Mux and demux circuits.

Course Content

Modelling the diode forward charecteristics, Diode load line analysis, , Diode equivalent circuits., Bipolar junction transistors (BJT) : Physical operation, Current voltage charecteristics, DC analysis of Bipolar Junction Transistors, Bipolar Junction Transistors AC Analysis, practical considerations., Logic Gates, Boolean Algebra, Boolean Algebra, K-Map, Encoders, Decoders.
