Course Objectives: Students of Engineering Department mostly will be employer’s representatives and interact with blue collar workers when they begin to work as a white collar-worker. On the other hand, they will subject to their contract and Labour Law Nr. 4857 as an employer. Therefore aim of the course is to give students the basic knowledge about these topics.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
I. Defines the basic terms of Labour Law such as employer, emloyee, subcontractor and quasi emloyee.
II. Determines the types of employment contracts and analyzes the conditions and consequences of each type.
III. Distinguishes employment contracts from the other contracts which contain the obligation to perform work.
IV. Defines the rights and obligations of the employee based on the employment contract.
V. Defines the rights and obligations of the employer based on the employment contract.
VI. Analyzes the obligations of the employee after the termination of the employment contract.
VII. Analyzes the features of the employee who have labour security.
VIII. Determines the wages, severence pays and compensations and states the amounts.
IX. Evaluates the termination of the employment contract by the employee or employer and its legal consequences.
X. Analyzes the regulations about working and resting times.

4. Week : The Definition and Forms of Employment Contracts: Employment Contracts with Definite and Indefinite Term Work, Part-Time and Full-Time Employment Contracts and Subspecies
5. Week : Practical Course
6. Week : Additional Types of Employment Contracts: Seasonal Contracts, Contracts with Probation Clause and Temporary Emloyment Relationship
7. Week : Obligations of Employee: To Perform Work, To Obey, To Abide the Duty of Loyalty, Not to Compete
8. Week : Obligations of the Employer: To Pay the Wages, Concept and Types of Wages
9. Week : Mid-Term Exam
10. Week : Obligations of the Employer: Equal Treatment and the Essence of the Obligation, Duty to Protect Employee and the Suspension of the Contract
11. Week : Termination of the Contract and Notice for the Termination
12. Week : Job Security System: Distinction Between Terminations which Prerequisites Notification and Termination of the Contracts for Just Cause
