Profile of the Program

Program associates design and research for professional architectural practice and scholarship based on knowledge of theory, design, practice, technologies in the social, cultural, environmental, and professional contexts and contemporary paradigms of architecture. The program aims to develop students' awareness of scientific research, to gain the skills of conducting and presenting individual research, and to comprehend the importance of lifelong learning. The program culminates with a research thesis under the supervision of an academic advisor.

The students who successfully complete the program are awarded the degree of Bachelor of Architecture

Specific Admission Requirements

Graduates with a four-year undergraduate degree from Architecture, Interior Architecture, City and Regional Planning can apply. Academic Personnel and Post Graduate Education Admittance Examination (ALES) QUANTITATIVE 55; YDS, YÖKDİL, BAU English Proficiency Exam: 65 TOEFL: 79 PTE: 67 is required. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Students joining Master of Architecture (English-Thesis) program must have completed at least 24 credits of 3 compulsory and 5 program elective courses, a seminar and a thesis presented and approved by the jury.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students who will continue their education at Bahçeşehir University Graduate School may be exempted from the courses they took at the previous education institution within the framework of certain regulations set by The Council of Higher Education (YÖK). If the content of the course taken is in accordance with the content of the course given at BAU and is approved by the relevant institute directorate, the student may be exempted from this course.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Graduates can find job opportunities within the broad spectrum of the architectural discipline as an academician at universities; In the fields related to architecture in the private sector; in the press; can take part in organizations related to architecture; In the construction industry as designers or practitioners (according to their undergraduate degrees); In the public sector, in Ministries and as a designer and controller.

Program Outcomes

1 Develop and deepen knowledge in the same or in a different field to the proficiency level based on Bachelor level qualifications.
2 Be able to conduct researches at proficiency level in Architecture and related disciplines individually and participate or take responsibility in groups.
3 Demostrate an ability to develop new approaches and produce knowledge at proficiency level researches both in architecture and related disciplines.
4 Apply critical thinking methods , identify, formulate, and effectively communicate the critical issues involved in the solution of design problems.
5 Evaluate the phenomena in Architectural History and analyze historical, social, political backgrounds of the contemporary developments.
6 Be able to conduct qualitative and quantitative researches on the discipline of Architecture.
7 Be able to communicate the results of his researches, design proposals, conceptual and practical thoughts in the field of architecture using written, oral, visual media
8 Develops the lifelong learning abilities.
9 Engage social, legal, ethical and aesthetical responsibility in the discipline of architecture.
