Course Objectives: | The growing complexity of organizational science and theory is evidenced in the challenges facing public and private sector organizations. The focus of this course is organizational learning and performance: processes, systemic functions, culture, structure, leveraging and use of information systems to inform decision-making. The course requires a field-based study applying course content to conduct an organizational audit and prepares a report. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; 1. Review an organizational audit as evidenced by a written report and an oral presentation in class. 2. Develop an understanding of learning organizations and what differentiates organizations that learn from those that do not. 3. Describe past, current, and emerging models relevant to organizations in general, and education leadership specifically. 4. Apply learned theoretical frameworks to relevant, real-world examples utilizing technology and other media. 5. Identify elements of adaptive change within real-world examples (through online resources and video technology. 6. Develop the capacity to lead learning organizations by focusing on key characteristics of quality leadership as well as identifying and utilizing various group process tools. |
