Course Objectives: | This course aims to provide a wider perspective of the recent architectural field and its various productions in different scales (local/international; singular/urban) and contexts in Turkey starting from the 1980s, till today. In this respect, it is intended to identify and comparatively discuss the multiple processes and actors of the contemporary architectural productions in Turkey. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; 1.Identify the historical and chronological developments of the architectural field in Turkey since 1980s. 2.Recognize significant products of recent architecture and their authors/architects in reference to their contextual significance, between 1980s and today. 3.Analyze urban processes and the professional mechanism of architectural production(s) comparatively. 4.Develop notions of dynamic social, political, economic factors in national and global levels as active constituents of the architectural field. |
This course aims to discuss the architectural productions of Turkey within the context of larger sociopolitical and cultural developments including cross-cultural influences, formation and transformation of an urban culture in contact with global networks of communication, economy and culture. Accordingly analysis and comparison of contemporary architectural discourses, criticisms, buildings, urban conditions as architectural productions is included in the content of this course. |
