Course Objectives: | In this course, various phenomena that affect the processes of design and production in the selected historical periods in the fields of interior architecture and design will be subject to study. These phenomena include both the tectonic elements that shape interior space (such as material, decorative arts, technology and furniture) and the cultural elements (such as everyday life, gender, popular culture etc.). The aim of this course is to examine how these phenomena are reflected in the everyday design practices of architects, designers and artists who are prominent figures of the selected periods in the history of interior architecture and design. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; |
This course examines various design movements, theories and approaches that have been effective in different periods of the history of interior architecture and design. In this course, the ways in which avant-garde designers and design movements approach tectonic and cultural elements and shape interior space will be analyzed in accordance to their relations to local and international contexts. By the way of linking the discussions in the past to the contemporary design practices, the course enables students to establish new connections between the past and present time. |
