Course Objectives: Determine the distribution of diseases that are required for the planning of health activities in the community and the factors that affecting, teach the characteristics of people, places and time of diseases and to gain skills for reviewing of these factors, make a measurable value of the concept of disease by getting help from different mathematical criteria, determine the health problems that threaten society in realistic and scientific way, improve social preventive health measures and gain skills of implementation during the students' education and professional activities by teaching the basic epidemiological information they will need.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1. Will be able to define the concepts related to epidemiology.
2. Will be able to define the cases of epidemiology.
3. Will be able to explain the usage areas of epidemiology.
4. Will be able to explain the strategies of epidemiology.
5. Will be able to explain epidemiological research methods.
6. Will be able to use epidemiological principles to determine the prevalence of health problems that threaten society and cause the most morbidity and mortality.
7. Can define the person, place and time characteristics of diseases.
8. Will be able to evaluate the person, place, time characteristics of diseases and diseases.
9. Calculate the incidence and prevalence in the distribution of diseases.
10. Can effectively use research methods in epidemiology in their scientific and professional activities.
11. Will be able to calculate epidemiological rates and rates in scientific evaluation and measurement of health events.
12. Define primary, secondary and tertiary preventive measures in the prevention of diseases.
13. Will be able to define the causal relationships of diseases.
14. List the epidemiological features of infectious diseases.
15. Filiation, quarantine, hygiene, etc. to protect the society from infectious diseases. implement measures.
16. Will be able to define the epidemiological features of chronic diseases.
17. Will be able to plan epidemiological researches.
18. The planned epidemiological studies can be used effectively to protect public health.

Course Content

The general principles of epidemiology, health issues important to our country in the light of these principles and functions of the nurse in the war with them, epidemiological research methods.
