Recommended Optional Program Components: In our course, as teaching methods and techniques; lecture, case studies, discussion, practice and presentation will be utilized.
Course Objectives: The aim of the course is to enable the student to gain basic knowledge and skills in basic first aid principles, wounded assessment, ensuring accident scene safety, basic life support, use of OED, first aid in airway obstruction and drowning, first aid in bleeding, injuries, burning, freezing and heat strokes, poisoning and animal bites.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to

1- Defines basic first aid principles.
2- Defines the situations requiring first aid.
3- Systematically examines the victim or injured individual from head to toe and ensures the safety of the scene
.
4- Defines and applies basic life support steps. Makes OED application.
5- Applies first aid interventions in respiratory obstructions, drowning, bleeding, injuries, consciousness disorders, burning,
frostbite and heat strokes, poisoning and animal bites.

Course Content

This course includes the importance of first aid, legal responsibility, basic first aid information, first aid in bleeding, poisoning and heat injuries, first aid in fractures, dislocations and sprains, first aid in other emergencies and transportation.

1) Develop close interest in human mind and behavior, and attain critical thinking skills (in particular the ability to evaluate psychological theories using empirical evidence), as well as appreciating psychology as an evidence based science.
