Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to teach the patient and her family with a holistic approach to gain the knowledge and skills to maintain the pre-, intra- and postoperative care of the patient to be treated surgically.

1. Knows the basic concepts and principles of surgical diseases.
2. Describe the psychological and spiritual aspects of surgery.
3. Knows the surgical symptoms seen before and after the surgery and applies the care.
4. Knows and applies the care of surgical diseases.
5. Investigate and develop and apply innovation in surgical wound care.
6. Knows and applies new service design for surgical pain relief.

Course Content

This course; Historical development and definition of surgery, concepts affecting surgical nursing, surgical care, features and operating conditions of the operating room, postoperative care and prevention of complications, prevention of surgical site infections, surgical symptoms, cancer surgery, some special branch surgery applications.
