Course Objectives: The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with concepts of diversity and multicultural counseling. In addition it aims to enrich students? awareness regarding issues of privilege, bias, stereotypes as well as promoting multicultural competencies.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1.Describe basic concepts related to human diversity and multiculturalism , 2.Discuss theories of multicultural counseling
3.Evaluate concepts of privilege, social inequality and oppression Critique minority identity development theories

5.Disclose own biases and stereotypes
6.Appreciate unique aspects various groups
7.Evaluate issues of aging and spirituality

Course Content

Culture, history of culturally sensitive psychological counseling practices; reasons for development of culturally sensitive counseling practices; culturally sensitive counseling competencies; culturally sensitive counseling applications.
