Course Objectives: | The aim of this course is to examine the historical processes of the Turksih Foreign Policy from the War of Independence to our day. The developments in foreign policy will be analyzed according to different phases and they will be evaluated in the light of domestic political and economic issues. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; I. Will be able to define conceptual frameworks used to explain Turkish politics in the social science literature. II. Possess knowledge on Turkish political institutions and their functioning. III. Students will be trained as competent individuals on Turkish Politics. IV. Will try to explain the development and contemporary problems in Turkish politics, through the main concepts of Political Science. V. Will be able to evaluate various countries and regions on the international level, combining practical and theoretical knowledge. |
This course is an introductory course to Turkish politics on a graduate level. The course consists of four main parts: 1) Turkish foreign policy from the war of independence to the 21st century 2) Turkish political institutions and their functioning 3) conceptual frameworks used to explain Turkish politics in the social science literature 4) The interaction of domestic politics and foreign policy in Turkey. The course’s aim is to analyze the development and the contemporary problems of Turkish politics through the concepts of political science. |
