Course Objectives: The main objective of this course is to define the insurance contracts and specify the rights- obligations of the contracting parties and also analyze certain types of insurance contracts.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
I. Recognize the differences between social security and private insurance.
II. Distinguish the insurance contract from other contracts.
III. Define the basic insurance law persons such as insurer, policyholder, insured etc.
IV. Name and distinguish the insurance intermediaries.
V. Define the basic concepts such as insurance premium, risk, interest etc.
VI. Recognize rights and obligations of the insurer.
VII. Recognize rights and obligations of the policyholder.
VIII. Recognize the characteristics and differences of the property and life insurance contracts, which are two basic insurance contracts types.
IX. Analyze in which situations the insurer has subrogation right.
X. Analyze beneficiary assignation on life insurance contracts.

Introduction to the insurance law, Insurance inspection – Provisions of insurance law, Insurance intermediaries and interest, Risk and premium, Parties of insurance contract, Duties of the policyholder, Obligations of insurer, Under insurance-Over insurance and multiple insurance, Subrogation, Life insurance, Beneficiary assignation
