Course Objectives: The main objectives of the course is to examine the importance and history of the social security right which is a prerequisite of a welfare state and to analyze the regulations of social security right in Turkish Law especially the Social Security and General Health Insurance Act Nr. 5510.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
I. Identifies the social security concept as a product of the search for an assurance against the life threatening risks.
II. Identifies fundamental issues of the social security law, discusses the current trends and aspects of social security.
III. Identifies the fundamental concepts and institutions in Turkish social security law regulations.
IV. Classifies the system as contributory and non-contributory.
V. Identifies the rights of insurance holders and obligations of the employers.
VI. Analyzes general health insurance system and its justifications.
VII. Examines and identifies short-term social insurance branches.
VIII. Examines and identifies long-term social insurance branches.
IX. Examines allowances, incomes and premiums for social insurance.
X. Analyzes individual account pension system.
