Course Objectives: One of the main objectives of this course is to analyze acquisition and deprivation prerequisites of Turkish citizenship. Another main objective is to teach the fundamental principles of private international law, as to be a basis for further lessons on conflict of law rules.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
I. Analyse the legal problems of conflict of laws rules.
II. Determine the concept of foreign element and the legal relationships with foreign elements.
III. Determine the applicable law in personal and family law issues with foreign elements.
IV. Determine the applicable law in succession law issues with foreign elements.
V. Determine the applicable law in obligation law issues with foreign elements.
VI. Determine the applicable law in unjust enrichment and unlawful act issues with foreign elements.
VII. Determine the concepts of the connection, the connecting subject and connecting factors in private international law.
VIII. Determine the concepts of fraud, public policy and renvoi.
IX. Determine the citizenship, the dual citizenship, multicitizenship and the stateless issues.
X. Determine the acquisition and the deprivation of Turkish citizenship issues.

2.Week : The concept of the connection and the cizizenship, the habitual residence and the as connecting factors.

5.Week : The conflict of law rules in ward, trusteeship, the disappereance, the engagement and the marriage issues
6.Week : The conflict of law rules in divorce, marriage property and alimony issues
