Course Objectives: To define the concept of school health, to plan school health services, to implement and evaluate, to determine the health problems of school-age children and provide a solution as a school nurse, to have knowledge of legislation related to school health and to interpret legislation, to gain knowledge and proficiency in development, upgrading, maintaining the health of school-age children

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1 Identify the roles of the school nurse

2 Determine the risk factors that can threaten the health of school-age children and work in coordination with the school administration to take the necessary precautions

3 Identify health problems in school-age children and apply appropriate nursing interventions

4 Plan nursing practices necessary for development, upgrading, maintaining the health of school-age children

5 Determine the emergency health problems in school-age children, provide appropriate treatment, care and referral

6 Evaluate the legislation related to school health, legal and ethical principles

7 Provide the communication and organization with the school health team

8 Apply nursing interventions required for school-age children about substance abuse and school violence prevention

9 Keep school health records and know the importance of records

10 Plan and conduct health education of the school staff

Course Content

The concept of school health and approach to school health services, work areas of school health, school health services in primary health care and problems in school health, the concept and practice of school health nursing, school health legislation in our country, school health services organization, problems encountered in the legislation.
