Course Objectives: This course aims to provide students with knowledge and skills about the basic concepts of operating room and operating room nursing, the roles and responsibilities of the operating room nurse in the surgical team, and the subjects related to the safe operation of the operating room intervention.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
At the end of this course, students;
1. Knows the history and philosophy of operating room nursing,
2. Knows the design of the operating room, the team organization in the operating room,
3. Knows the duties, authorities and responsibilities of the operating room nurse,
4. Understands the importance of surgical asepsis, learns the use of surgical techniques and materials,
5. Defines the concepts of sterilization and disinfection, understands its importance,
6. Knows the precautions to be taken for patient and employee safety,
7. It can provide the nursing care that the patient needs in the pre-, intra and post-operative periods.

Course Content

Introduction to the operating room nursing, standards in operating room nursing, security in operating room, nursing care in operating room, asepsis, sterilization, basic surgical instruments, documentation.
