Course Objectives: | In addition to teaching the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of drugs to nursing students, the effects of drugs used in clinics specific to body systems, routes of administration, dose adjustments, and correct and careful drug administration knowledge and skills are given to students. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; The student taking this course; 1. Comment on the basic concept and terminology of pharmacology. 2. Explains the sources and general properties of drugs and the absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of drugs applied to the body. 3. Discusses the effects of drugs in the body, the ways of administration and doses, and the interactions between other drugs and their undesirable effects. 4. Lists the sources and properties of drugs that affect body systems. 5. Properties, pharmacokinetics, effects of drugs acting on systems, 6. Questions undesirable effects, drug interactions, use and doses. |
Clinical using, dosing of the drug, oral and pharenteral administration routes, long term effect drugs, binding to plasma proteins of drugs, drug-drug and drug-food interactions, clinical observation of the special drugs, clinical factors that modify drug actions, Adverse and unexpected effects, Drug addiction and dependences. Drug using in pediatric, geriatric, pregnant, and breast-feeding patients, Drug using in patients with hepatic and renal diseases, Pharmacodynamics and Pharmacokinetics effects of the drugs in the body, Rational Prescribing (using the right medication, at the right dose, using the right route and frequency of administration for the patient, and stopping the drug appropriately), Adverse Drug Effects, Toxicology, Drug interactions, Drug development. Preclinical and clinical studies: Phase I, Phase II, Phase IIl, Phase IV studies, Bioequivalence drug studies. |
