Course Objectives: This course will enable students to diagnose situations that require emergency care, to know and apply the priorities of emergency care, to know medical emergencies, to identify individuals and families in emergency situations, to gain basic knowledge and skills that will be needed in the care and follow-up processes of patients, evaluation of emergency patients and emergency care. It aims to provide the necessary competence in maintenance practices.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
At the end of this lesson
1. Knows the concept of emergency, its importance and the historical process of emergency care;
2. Knows the duties, authorities and responsibilities of the emergency nurse;
3. Knows the legal regulations in emergency;
4. Interprets the reasons for re-admission to the ED;
5. Knows the methods of evaluating the emergency patient from head to toe;
6. Knows the emergency triage system;
7. Knows how to provide basic and advanced life support;
8. Knows, evaluates and interprets trauma and injury emergencies;
9. Knows, evaluates and interprets medical emergencies.

Course Content

It includes the history of emergency care, physical characteristics of an emergency unit, primary and secondary patient assessment, basic life support, and care and treatment approaches in cases requiring emergency care based on the systems.
