Course Objectives: Basic concepts related to health insurance, the origin of the insurance, the types of insurance, implementatıons in Turkey and the world, the role of insurance in financing health services, intend to give information to students about the types of insurance.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1 Identify the health care financing systems
2 Know the health insurance and the payment systems
3 Know the historical development health insurance scope, use of health services and effects on health
4 Define the types of health insurance, private insurance and social insurance,
5 Health insurance systems and to explain the useage and to understand the impact on health service
6 Understand the compulsory and private health insurance, to use the cost sharing of health care and the impact of health insuarence on health,
7 Know health insuarence in the world and our country
8 Problems in the field of insurance, the reform efforts, methods of cutting costs and the cost of their service, be able to use and evaluate the effects on health,
9 Explain the latest developments in health insuarence and payment systems,
10 Define the European Unioninsurance system

Course Content

General information about health care financing systems, health insurance and payment systems, the historical development of insurance, coverage, use of insurance in health services and effects on health, health insurance types, private insurance and social insurance, health insurance systems and effects on health, the service useage of health insuarence system, the health care useage of mandatory and private health insurance cost sharing and health care use and effect on health, health insurance in the world and in our country, the problems in the field of insurance, the reform efforts, cutting costs methods and their effects on cost of service, useage and on health, the last developments in health insurance and payment systems.
