Course Objectives: | The objective of this course is to provide students with a legal and critical understanding of the major concepts and issues of International Humanitarian Law and to give all students an opportunity to develop their own analytic work. As for analytic work, students are given opportunity to discuss in-depth some humanitarian crises such as, the wars in Bosnia and Croatia, The Rwandan genocide, operations in Afghanistan, and Iraq and the implications of the war on terrorism on the humanitarian agenda. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; I. Recognize the major concepts and issues of International Humanitarian Law. II. Experiment and develope analytic work on the implimentation of Four Geneva Conventions and its additional Protocols. III. Analyze and given opportunity to extrapolate on the humanitarian crises such as, the wars in Bosnia and Croatia, The Rwandan genocide and discuss in-depth the probable preventive measures. IV. Evaluate the challenges to humanitarian principles in time of armed conflict and peace operations and recognize the implications of the war on terrorism on the basis of the humanitarian agenda. |
