HISTORY, THEORY, AND CRITICISM IN DESIGN (ENGLISH, PHD)


Profile of the Program

This program aims at exploring and generating the conceptual foundations of the built environment as a form of cultural production; production of academic research and knowledge in the field of history, theory and criticisim of design with an inter-disciplinary approach and to contribute to the education of academic staff in the related field. - To explore and generate the conceptual foundations of the built environment as a form of cultural production - To explore the changing and evolving nature of the fields of design history, theory and criticism - Making use of the knowledge and progress in various disciplines encouraging the researches and inventions in methodology; transfering the knowledge of diverse fields to the comtemporary design discourse and praxis - To foster advanced researches and original contributions in architecture and design - To contribute to the education and cultivation of academic staff in the field of design history, theory and criticism.

The students who successfully complete the program are awarded the degree of Bachelor of in Architecture and Design

Specific Admission Requirements

-The undergraduate GPA of the applicant should not be less than 2.50; graduate GPA of the applicant should not be less than 3.00 -The applicant should have minimum 60 points from ALES (quantitative part) -The applicants will be inteviewed and the refrence letters will be evaluated -The applicant should have minimum 65 points from YDS or an equaivalent score from other exams that are accepted by interuniversity council

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The students graduating from this program are awarded Ph.D degree in Architecture and Design.

Recognition of Prior Learning

The applicants of HTC phD program should have an undergraduate degree from departments of Architecture, Interior Architecture and Environmental Planning or Urban and Regional Planning.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Program addresses those in the quest of an academic career or profound information in the field; and/or professional editors that would take part as an editor in esteemed publications in the field in addition to the nominess of administrative positions and curators.

Access to Further Studies

Program Outcomes

1 to be able to pursue independent academic research work in his/her field of study/specialization.
2 to be able to conduct interdisciplinary researches based on specific methods in his/her own formulation

4 to be able to follow up the state of the art information processing technologies related with her/his field of specialization.
5 to be able to act as refree/problem solver in the case of national/international problems of his/her field of specialization.
