Profile of the Program

The aim of program is to correctly analyze political science and international relations, become knowledgeable about and approach critical international issues, accumulation of skills in a specific area of expertise with benefit from other social sciences perspective.

The students who successfully complete the program are awarded the degree of Bachelor of Political Science and International Relations

Specific Admission Requirements

For the Ph.D. Programs students are evaluated that; the score of ALES or International exams like GRE and GMAT which are approved by Higher Education Council (YÖK). By related Graduate School of Social Science (EADB), other criteria deemed appropriate and candidates are announced to students. Applicants for PhD programs to be admitted with undergraduate degree, grade point average must be at least 3.00, and ALES score must be at least 80. Candidates that providing the minimum requirements are required to take the written exam. If they are successful, they are entitled to register.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The students graduating from this program are awarded Ph.D degree in Political Science and International Relations.

Recognition of Prior Learning

At Bahcesehir University , full-time students can be exempted from some courses within the framework of the related by-laws. If the content of the course previously taken in another institution is equivalent to the course offered at BAU, then the student can be exempted from this course with the approval of the graduate school after the evaluation of the course content.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Graduate students of Ph.D in Political Science and International Relations Program might have carrier opportunities in academic area, Government Institutions such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, international organizations, international non-governmental organizations, the media, the public and private sectors, policy analysis, policy formulation and implementation.

Program Outcomes

1 Have the social, scientific and ethical values under any circumstances with related to the field of Political Science and International Relations in data collection, interpretation, and dissemination stage also information to develop and deepen the level of expertise.
2 Students can critically evaluate the political developments, strategies and practical outcomes on the international political arena, based on theoretical knowledge.
3 Have the knowledge of the nation state to the present day about geographical, institutional, structural, conceptual and theoretical development of the international relations; the political, economic and juridical foundation of the state. Evaluated to be critical a variety of security issues, strategies, and practical consequences in the international arena.
4 Possess the ability to recognize problems and create original solutions through independent and critical thinking, as well as the ability to develop theoretical concepts. In addition, a knowledge of recent advances within one's field and in related areas, an understanding of relevant research methodologies and techniques and their appropriate application within one's research field.
5 Through completion of advanced course work and rigorous skills training, the doctoral program prepares students to make original contributions to the knowledge of Political Science and to interpret and present the results of such research.
6 Distinguish among and apply the distinct levels of analysis and the leading schools of thought in political science and international relations to understand and explain international political phenomena
7 Distinguish among leading schools of thought in comparative politics and apply and critically discuss these approaches in understanding and explaining domestic political phenomena
