Profile of the Program

Our Ph.D. Program in Educational Technology, designed with a transdisciplinary approach, aim to raise experts who support and develop learning with innovative methods by researching information, skills and qualifications in different areas within the context of real learning problems. The scope of our program covers facilitating learning and supporting academic performance within the context of formal/informal/lifelong learning and planning, designing, application, evaluation and management of appropriate processes and products with a focus on research and development.

The students who successfully complete the program are awarded the degree of Bachelor of EĞİTİM TEKNOLOJİSİ

Specific Admission Requirements

Foreign Language (English) 15% •Applications with Thesis-Master’s degrees; a minimum score of 65 in YDS (Foreign Language Exam) or 79 in TOEFL-IBT is required for Turkish Ph.D. Program and for Integrated Turkish Ph.D. Program applications, a minimum score of 75 in YDS or 79 in TOEFL-IBT is required or an equivalent score in any other exam whose equivalency is recognized by the Council of Higher Education is required. Also a minimum of B2 is required from TOMER (Turkish Proficiency Exam). •Applicants who apply for English programs need to have a minimum score of 75 in Foreign Language Exam (YDS) or 79 in TOEFL-IBT or an equivalent score in any other exam whose equivalency is recognized by the Council of Higher Education is required. Assessment of Scientific Competence 20% •Written exam or interview * Student Admission for the Scientific Preparation Program: Candidates who are admitted to the Ph.D. Programs but have earned their Master’s degrees in a non-education field are required to take scientific preparation courses.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The students who successfully complete the program are awarded the degree of Ph.D. in Educational Technology.

Recognition of Prior Learning

At Bahcesehir University, full-time students can be exempted from some courses within the framework of the related bylaws. If the content of the course previously taken in another institution is equivalent to the course offered at BAU, then the student can be exempted from this course with the approval of the related faculty/graduate school after the evaluation of the course content.

The students graduating from this program may apply to post doctoral programs in the field of expertise.

2 To comprehend relations between Educational Technology and others disciplines and being able to state ideas concerning possible implementations in framework of these relations.
3 To be able to evaluate, improve and design applications, methods generate new ideas which are innovative for educational technology.
4 Being able to manage original research in educational technology using interdisciplinary perspective.
5 Being able to investigate original issues within the frame of scientific research techniques as independently or in cooperation with others. Then being able to present the obtained results as research report.
6 Being able to advocate original views in discussions in the field of educational technologies.
7 Being able to communicate with experts in the field of educational technologies in written, orally and visually.
8 Being able to create new ideas and techniques concerning educational technology using high level mental process such as creative and critical thinking, problem solving and decision making.
9 Being able to make contributions to the society in being an information society and sustaining this by following the emerging scientific, technological, social and cultural developments.
10 To make contribution to solve social, scientific, cultural and ethic problems in issues related to e-learning technologies and promote development of these values.
11 Being able to make contributions to the knowledge in the field by publishing a scientific article in the field of educational technologies at national or international journals.
12 Being able to lead the situations when original and interdisciplinary problems are needed to be solved.
