| The main aim of the PhD program is to raise scholars to work in universities, think tanks and research centers in Turkey and abroad. It also offers graduates seeking positions in other venues an opportunity to broaden their horizons and specialize in various areas of the discipline of Political Science and International Relations. | Specific Admission Requirements: General minimum requirements for candidates applying to Ph.D. program: • ALES (EA or SOZ): 60 or GRE result of at least 151 in the quantitative score type or GMAT result of at least 465 in total, • To have master's degree with thesis, • English Proficiency Result Certificate YDS: 80, YÖKDİL: 80, TOEFL: 96. The validity period of the exam is 5 years for GRE, GMAT and ALES, 5 years for YDS-YÖKDİL and 2 years for TOEFL. Students with a bachelor's degree are not accepted to the program. However, there is no required bachelor’s degree study field criteria. Candidates who are registered to master's degree programs without thesis will not be evaluated in the doctoral application process. | Students who are admitted to this program following the completion of a master’s degree with thesis, had to pass (grade 3.00/4.00) a total of seven courses at a minimum, collecting 21 credits/60 ECTS in an academic year comprising Fall and Spring semesters, with a total of 240 ECTS for graduation. The PhD program is eight semesters and the maximum completion period is twelve semesters, regardless of whether they have registered for each semester, starting from the semester when the courses related to the program they are enrolled for are accepted with a master's degree with thesis. The maximum period of successful completion of credit courses required for the PhD program is four semesters for those who are admitted with a master's degree with thesis. |
| A student successfully completed at least one semester in any program of another higher education institution can be admitted through external transfer to graduate programs at the University, with the proposal of respective EADB (Head of the Department of Graduate School) and resolution of respective board, provided that the student who have at least 2 courses that can be transferred to the respective program and received at least 3.00 or an equivalent weighted average in those courses applies together with required documents within the prescribed time. The courses of the admitted program from which the student will be exempted are also specified in that resolution. |
| Graduates having a diploma from Bahçeşehir University’s PhD Program in Political Science and International Relations can be employed as faculty in prestigious universities in Turkey and abroad. They can also find positions in international organizations as well as state institutions and agencies. Some graduates can add more to their expertise by enrolling in postgraduate degrees in various universities. |
