CARTOON AND ANIMATION


Profile of the Program

Through the range of formative, practical, historical and theoretical courses, our graduates are encouraged to question, solve problems, imagine and innovate. Their knowledge of the range of practices involving cartoon and animation today enables them to position themselves in relation to the potentially shifting fields of visual arts and communication.

Qualification Awarded

The students who successfully complete the program are awarded the degree of Bachelor of Arts

Level of Qualification

This is a Bachelor’s Degree (First Cycle) program.

Specific Admission Requirements

Student admission for this undergraduate program is made through an aptitude test. The students that receive 150 from the university entrance examinations (YKS-TYT) prepared in the framework of the regulations set by Higher Education Council of Turkey (YÖK) can apply for taking the test. The aptitude test entails two parts: execution and interview. International students are accepted to this undergraduate program according to the score of one of the international exams they take such as SAT,ACT etc. or according to their high school diploma score. Exchange student admission is made according to the requirements determined by bilateral agreements signed by BAU and the partner university. Visiting students can enroll for the courses offered in this program upon the confirmation of the related academic unit. Additionally, they need to prove their English language level since the medium of instruction at BAU is English.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The students studying in this undergraduate program are required to have a Cumulative Grade Points Average (Cum.GPA) of not less than 2.00/4.00 and have completed all the courses with at least a letter grade of D/S in the program in order to graduate. The minimum number of ECTS credits required for graduation is 240. It is also mandatory for the students to complete their compulsory internship 30 work days of duration and at the corporations approved by the department.

Recognition of Prior Learning

At Bahcesehir University, full-time students can be exempted from some courses within the framework of the related regulations. If the content of the course previously taken in another institution is equivalent to the course offered at BAU, then the student can be exempted from this course with the approval of the related faculty/graduate school after the evaluation of the course content.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

The program aims to educate dynamic professionals equipped with the most current information, solid basic knowledge about art and technology and who will serve and shape the future of the field of communication. Our students are educated to be the image professionals of the field in subjects such as production, directing and scripting of cartoon and animation, concept and character design, 3D modelling and computer generated imagery (CGI) by taking cartoon and animation courses from the specialists and premier practitioners of the field.

Access to Further Studies

The students graduating from this program may apply to second cycle (Master's degree) programmes.

Program Outcomes

1 To have theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in cartoon and animation.
2 To be able to develop research, observation-experience, evaluation skills in the field of cartoon and animation and effectively communicate ideas, convincing actions and emotions using cartoon and animation and performance principles in every direction.
3 Making animated films with various artistic styles and techniques.
4 Designing the cartoon and animation production process using initiative, applying it with creativity and presenting it with personal style.
5 To be a team member in the production process of cartoon and animations, to be able to take responsibility and manage the team members under their responsibility and to lead them.
6 To be able to evaluate cartoon and animations in the framework of their knowledge and skills.
7 To be able to define and manage learning requirements in the field of cartoon and animation.
8 To be able to communicate with related organizations by sharing scientific and artistic works in cartoon and animation and to share information and skills in the field.
9 To monitor developments in the field of cartoon and animation using foreign languages ​​and to communicate with foreign colleagues.
10 To be able to use general information and communication technologies at advanced level with all kinds of technical tools and computer software used in cartoon and animations.
11 Using critical thinking skills and problem solving strategies in all aspects of development and production, effectively communicating ideas, emotions and intentions visually, verbally and in writing, and effectively incorporating technology in the development of cartoon and animation projects.
12 To have sufficient knowledge about ethical values ​​and universal values ​​in the field of cartoon and animation.
