NEUROSCIENCE (TURKISH, PHD)

Profile of the Program

The Ph.D. in Neuroscience program at Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Medicine is designed to foster high-level research and education through an interdisciplinary approach that integrates cellular, molecular, systems, and behavioral aspects of the nervous system. The program brings together doctoral candidates from diverse academic backgrounds including medicine, biology, psychology, genetics, engineering, and basic sciences, and provides them with a rigorous and comprehensive neuroscience education. Students gain in-depth knowledge in areas such as neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, molecular neuroscience, neuroimaging, neurodegenerative diseases, and neuropsychiatry. The program also emphasizes the development of competencies in independent research, scientific publishing, critical thinking, and ethical responsibility. Under the mentorship of faculty members, Ph.D. candidates conduct original research using advanced techniques such as animal models, clinical data analysis, optogenetics, fMRI, EEG, and genetic methodologies. Graduates are well-equipped for careers in academia, as well as in biotechnology, pharmaceutical development, neurotechnology, and clinical research, where they can contribute to advancing neuroscience and human health.

Qualification Awarded

The students who successfully complete the program are awarded the degree of Bachelor of Sinirbilim Doktorası

Level of Qualification

This is a program.

Specific Admission Requirements

In order to apply to the doctoral program, candidates must have a thesis-based master's degree and must have an ALES score of no less than 55 points in the score type of the program they are applying for, as determined by the Institute Board recommendation and Senate decision. In addition to the ALES score, a written scientific assessment exam and/or an additional interview result and a master's grade point average may also be evaluated for the acceptance of those who will apply to the doctoral program. Matters related to this evaluation, application conditions and other matters regarding student admission are announced to candidates through appropriate means upon the recommendation of the Institute Board of Directors and the rules determined by the Senate.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Doktora sınavını başarı ile tamamladıktan sonra tez aşamasında da başarılı olup en az 1 adet SCI kapsamlı dergide özgün araştırma makalesi yayınlamış olmak

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students who will continue their education at Bahçeşehir University may be exempted from the courses they took at their previous educational institution within the framework of certain regulations. If the content of the course taken is compatible with the content of the course given at BAU and is approved by the institute directorate, the student may be exempted from this course.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

While they will be able to continue their academic careers in the field of neuroscience, they will also have the opportunity to work as experts in all public and private sector health institutions, laboratories, production and R&D centers on subjects involving neuroscience applications.

Access to Further Studies

Students who successfully complete the program can apply for post-doctoral studies according to their areas of expertise.
