Course Objectives: | Students are expected to design a retail space for displaying specific product groups decided by the student. The effective use of the space given, spatial organization, form, material, color choices, details, HVAC, lighting needs and the fire precautions are all considered essential in the context of the project. Students are asked to analyze the given space and its potentials, understand the spatial and functional requirements of basic activities of retail, develop a concept on given spatial and functional requirements defined by a scenario and the product, develop a spatial organization scheme, work on the atmosphere of the space and identity of the company by considering materials, lighting, color, etc., investigate different displaying techniques/units and try to develop original and concept related ways of display, and finally produce formal working drawings and models. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; 1. analyze the given space, understand the space potential 2. investigate spatial and functional requirements of basic activities of retail and prepare spatial organization scheme, 3. develop a concept and program depending on the user requirements defined by the function and the scenario 4. develop a spatial organization scheme for the project 5. investigate the structural systems for space, furniture and necessities 6. practice interior elevations and shop window 7. investigate material, color and structure of the 8urnishing 8. practice formal experiments working with models and drawings 9. experiment presentation techniques and prepare final presentation |
